DATA REQUIREMENT GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION SYSTEM (GIS) TO BE SUBMITTED TO DFS – MOF-GOI UNDER PMJDY

We reproduce herewith the Letter No. 2015/48 ,Dt: 19.03.2015 addressed to The Chairman, IBA, Mumbai by Shri Harvinder Singh, General Secretary, AIBOC for your information.

Letter No. 2015/48                         Date: 19.03.2015

The Chairman,
Indian Banks’ Association,
Mumbai.

Respected Sir,

DATA REQUIREMENT GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION SYSTEM (GIS) TO BE SUBMITTED TO DFS – MOF-GOI UNDER PMJDY

We understand that Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance (MOF), Government of India (GOI) has asked the banks to submit data / details with respect to the location of branches, available services, customer friendliness and contact details, image of concerned officials to develop a common Geographical Information System for locating bank branches.

There has been a large scale representation from our members, particularly the lady officers who are outnumbering men in many areas as they apprehend that their photographs and mobile numbers on public domain will add to personal risks for them, especially in rural branches. We also feel that photographs of the Manager and their mobile numbers cannot be of any help in common Geographical Information System for locating the branches of the Banks. On the other hand, this information on public domain is liable to be misused. We, therefore, request you to kindly look into the matter / take up the matter with Department of Financial Services at the earliest.

                    With warm regards,

                                                                                        Yours faithfully,

                                                                                   (HARVINDER SINGH)

                                                                                 GENERAL SECRETARY
